It’s been over two years since our famously popular lyrical and contemporary playlist went live. We’re still creating quarterly playlists so be sure to subscribe via email and get the latest posts in your inbox. This season’s playlist has some piano ballads, some electronic melodies, male, female voices, and is overall diverse. I hope that you find a few songs to use in your next contemporary class.
Without further ado, let’s dive into our playlist, first on Spotify, then on iTunes.
Listen Here on Spotify
Hold – Vera Blue Purchase
This song has some interesting accents to utilize in your choreography.
Paper Thin -Astrid S Purchase
This is one of my favorite songs so far this year. Definitely give this a listen before anything else.
Roses & Violets – Alexander Jean Purchase
Strong vocals and music that builds and builds. Love it.
Start a Riot – BANNERS Purchase
BANNERS entire EP is really great, whether for dancing or just easy listening.
Avalanche – HANA Purchase
HANA also has another song: Clay which you may want to check out.
Don’t Believe it- Molly Moore Purchase
On the jazzier side of things, this has a swinging sound.
Home – EMBRZ Purchase
This is an electronic piece that has curse words, but they don’t appear til mid-song. Feel free to use the first part of the song without worry.
My Kinda Swag – Emmi Purchase
Ballad with a gorgeous, deep voice.
Keeping Your Head Up – Birdy Purchase
Birdy always put out good lyrical songs. This is no exception.
Heartbroke – Wakey! Wakey! Purchase
Wakey! Wakey! has a strong and powerful voice. You might love this or hate this.
Blue & The Green – LOYAL Purchase
Retro sounds mixed with electronic sounds and a voice that whispers to you. Also love this one.
Mothers – Daughter Purchase
Daughter released an entire album in January 2016 so there are other songs to be heard here.
Underflow – Emma Louise Purchase
Pretty song, true lyrical.
Back to Me – Daya Purchase
Sexy and soulful song that has a poppy backbeat.
Over You – Ingrid Michaelson Purchase
